I dont understand
how you can do parlor tricks
for the people i know
you hate

entertain and play
and joke alongside denizens
of a society
that calls you late

for you smile falsely and 
smile more for the falseness
you play the victim
of their jokes
and fancies
with ease

and disregard what you know
of your own self worth
to make yourself
a delight to see.
